Which Kobo Do I Have? How to Identify Your Model (2026)
The fastest way to find your Kobo model is Settings → Device Information, which lists the model name and firmware. If the device is off or won't boot, read the model number printed on the back label (e.g. "Clara Colour", "Libra 2"), or compare the physical size and buttons: Clara models are the small symmetric ~6″ readers, Libra models add a page-turn button cluster and a hand strap on the side, and Sage is the large ~8″ flat-front reader. You need the exact model because Kobo cases are size-specific — a Clara case will not fit a Libra. Below is how to confirm yours and which CaseBlossom case fits.
How do I check which Kobo model I have in Settings?
Go to Home → ☰ Menu → Settings → Device Information (on some firmware it's under About). The screen shows:
- Device name — e.g. "Kobo Clara Colour", "Kobo Libra Colour", "Kobo Sage".
- Firmware version — useful if you're checking feature support.
- Serial number — keep it; it identifies the exact production batch.
This is the most reliable method. If the reader is frozen or won't power on, use the physical checks below instead.
Where is the model number on the back of a Kobo?
Turn the device over. Kobo prints the model name and regulatory info in small text on the back panel. You'll see something like "Kobo Clara BW" or "Kobo Libra 2". If the print has worn off, identify by size and buttons.
What does each Kobo look like? (quick visual check)
