Best Kobo Case (2026): Which Shell Fits Clara and Libra
Kobo cases are cut by family, not by screen size alone. The Clara line — Clara Colour, Clara BW and Clara 2E — shares one ~6″ footprint, and the Libra line — Libra Colour and Libra 2 — shares one ~7″ footprint. So the short answer, model by model: Clara Colour or Clara BW → the 6″ Clara shell; Clara 2E → the same 6″ shell, on a slightly thinner body; Libra Colour or Libra 2 → the 7″ Libra shell, which keeps the page-turn button side clear. What size is each current Kobo?
These are Kobo's published figures — they matter because a cover is cut around them, not around the screen size in the product title.
- Kobo Clara Colour — 6″ screen, 112 × 160 × 9.2 mm, ~174 g → the 6″ Clara shell.
- Kobo Clara BW — 6″ screen, 112 × 160 × 9.2 mm, ~174 g → the 6″ Clara shell.
- Kobo Clara 2E — 6″ screen, 112.05 × 159.02 × 8.66 mm, ~171 g → the 6″ Clara shell.
- Kobo Libra Colour — 7″ screen, 144.6 × 161 × 8.3 mm, ~199.5 g → the 7″ Libra shell.
- Kobo Libra 2 — 7″ screen, 144.6 × 161.6 × 9 mm, ~215 g → the 7″ Libra shell.
Two things fall out of that list. First, Clara and Libra are not interchangeable — a 6″ cover cannot wrap a Libra, and a Libra cover swims on a Clara. Second, the Libra bodies are the same height but different thickness (8.3 mm vs 9 mm), which is exactly the kind of gap a "fits most 7-inch readers" cover papers over with soft foam.
Which Kobo models do CaseBlossom covers fit?
We cut for two shells and we're honest about the rest:
- 6″ Clara shell → Clara Colour, Clara BW, Clara 2E. Browse Kobo Clara cases.

- Not offered: Sage, Elipsa, Form and Nia. Those bodies have their own button and magnet layouts and we would rather say so than sell you a cover that has to be bent on.

What should I check before buying a Kobo case?
- Family and model, not inches. Two readers can both be "6 inch" and share nothing. Use the list above or the back label.
- Whether it uses Kobo's own cover-sleep setting, and whether that is what you want. Kobo's SleepCover auto sleep/wake is a real device setting (Settings → Power → SleepCover, on by default), so a magnet in the flap means opening the case wakes the reader and closing it sleeps — no unlock tap, and it saves battery on the e-ink page-flip standby. If you'd rather the reader never sleeps when the flap closes, that setting is yours to turn off.
- What the front flap costs you in the pocket. A magnetic front flap protects the screen but adds thickness; Libra models are already the widest Kobo line, so if you want a bare-back, grip-only option, check the case type before ordering.
Do Libra and Clara cases behave differently day to day?
Yes, and it comes from the hardware rather than the cover. Libra models have physical page-turn buttons on the grip side — a cover that walls off that edge is a cover you take off, which defeats the point. Clara models are touch-first with no page-turn keys, so the shell can wrap that side and the reader still works one-handed. Clara Colour and Libra Colour also put their power button on the back, so a full-wrap shell doesn't hide it; on the other models, check your own device before assuming.
How does a made-to-order cover compare with the alternatives?
- Official Kobo SleepCover — fit: exact for one model; screen protection: magnetic front flap; look: plain solid colours.
- Multi-model foam-cushion covers — fit: a size band, not a model; screen protection: usually back-only; look: generic prints, mass-run.

Will a Kobo Clara case fit a Kobo Libra?
No. Libra is a 7″ body with a page-turn button side and a different thickness; the two shells are not interchangeable.
Does a CaseBlossom Kobo case put the reader to sleep?
The magnetic front flap works with Kobo's own SleepCover auto sleep/wake setting, which ships enabled (Settings → Power → SleepCover). Close the flap and the reader sleeps; open it and it wakes.
Are Kobo cases personalised for free?

Is a Kindle case the same as a Kobo case?
