Custom iPad Case (2026): Photo, Free Name, and Every Model Size

A custom iPad case is a made-to-order cover printed with your own photo, artwork or pattern, with your name or initials added free — and it only works if it's cut for your exact iPad model. CaseBlossom's design-your-own iPad case fits 20 current models across the base iPad (A16 / 10th gen, 7/8/9), iPad Air (4 → 8), iPad Pro (2020 → M5) and iPad mini, in three styles: Book Case ($44), Book Case with Pen Slot ($48) and Detachable Folio Stand ($48). A proof lands in your inbox within 48 hours, before anything is printed. Below: how to pick the right model, what makes a photo print well, and where a personalized iPad case beats a printed one.

Which iPad models does a custom case actually fit?

Every case is cut per model, not per screen size — two 10.9-inch iPads can have different camera and button positions. The order menu covers 20 options:

  • iPad (base) — A16 (2025) / 10th gen (2022) at 10.9″; 7th / 8th / 9th gen at 10.2″.
  • iPad Air — Air 4 / 5 (10.9″); Air 6 (2024) and Air 7 (2025) in 11″ and 13″; Air 8 (2026) in 11″ and 13″.
  • iPad Pro — 2020/2021 11″ and 12.9″; 2022 11″ and 12.9″; 2024 (M4) and 2025 (M5) in 11″ and 13″.
  • iPad mini — mini 6 and mini (A17 Pro, 7th) at 8.3″; mini 4/5 and mini 1/2/3 at 7.9″.

Older 9.7-inch iPads (iPad 2–6, original Air / Air 2 / Air 3, Pro 10.5″ and 9.7″) are not in the current run — if that's your tablet, check the model first and don't order hoping it'll fit.

What's my iPad model — and how do I check before ordering?

The name on the back is not enough; the generation matters. Three quick checks, in order of reliability:

  1. Settings → General → About → Model Name — this is the exact string our size menu keys on. Tap the model number once and it switches to the A-number (like A2696 or A3354), which removes any doubt between generations.
  2. The A-number printed on the back — small text, but it maps 1:1 to a size.
  3. If the iPad won't boot — sign in to the Apple ID the tablet was set up with and check Devices; or match the A-number on our which iPad do I have guide.

Still unsure? Our model table answers the awkward ones — is "iPad Air 11-inch (M3)" the same as "iPad Air 7"? (yes) — and you can always ask with a screenshot of the About screen.

Can I use any photo for a custom iPad case?

You upload a PNG or JPG up to 8 MB — a pet, a wedding photo, your own bookshelf, fan art you drew. What survives printing on a curved folio cover: sharp, evenly lit, close-cropped subjects (faces and pets read best filling the frame), and artwork with bold shapes rather than tiny detail — the front flap is trim-cut at the edges, so keep anything critical away from the border. If the file's resolution is going to print badly, the proof stage is where we'll catch it: you see the rendered case before it's produced, and nothing prints until you approve. For the general process (upload → proof → production) see the design your own case guide.

How much does a personalized iPad case cost?

$44 for the Book Case, $48 with the Apple Pencil slot, $48 for the detachable folio stand — every option is list price, with the name or initials included at no cost and worldwide shipping free. The 48-hour emailed proof is also free. That puts a custom case in the same band as a hardcover, and it's the difference between a personalized iPad case and a generic printed one: nobody else opens their folio to find their own name on it. If you're picking between printed designs instead of uploading art, the iPad reading case guide covers pen slot vs folio stand, and made-to-order prints like Daisy Hours ship the same way.

Do custom iPad cases auto sleep and wake?

Yes — the customization doesn't change the hardware. The folio flap carries the magnet that wakes and sleeps your iPad on open and close, exactly like our printed covers, and the hard back keeps the case from flexing in a bag. Pen-slot models keep the Pencil seated and charging; the detachable folio folds into a stand for propped reading.

Can I return a personalized iPad case?

Made-to-order items can't be returned or exchanged once production has started — which is why the proof exists: change the artwork, the name spelling or the model choice during the 48-hour proof stage, free. If the model you selected turns out wrong, tell us before it ships and we'll always try to help. After the saw starts spinning, a wrong model means a second case, so the two-minute About-screen check genuinely saves money.

Is a custom iPad case a good gift?

It's the strongest gift in the reading-gadget family for one reason: the recipient's model stops being your problem — you design it, they confirm the device when their order is placed. Add a name, and it reads bespoke without bespoke pricing; our gifts for Kindle owners and book lovers guide covers stocking-vs-proper-gift budgets if you're deciding between the iPad owner and the e-reader owner in the house. For Christmas delivery, order by early-to-mid December — made-to-order plus proof time plus shipping is the honest timeline.
